Orthostatic hypotension

I personally like to share this.

Orthostatic hypotension — also called postural hypotension — is a form of low blood pressure that happens when you stand up from sitting or lying down. Orthostatic hypotension can make you feel dizzy or lightheaded, and maybe even faint.

Orthostatic hypotension is often mild, lasting a few seconds to a few minutes after standing. However, long-lasting orthostatic hypotension can be a sign of more-serious problems, so talk to your doctor if you frequently feel lightheaded when standing up. It's even more urgent to see a doctor if you lose consciousness, even momentarily.


  • Most prevalent among the elderly. Causes include prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs, hypovolemia, vasodilation, prolonged bed rest, and disorders of the autonomic nervous system.

  • Treatment should seek to remove underlying causes. When this is not possible, as is the case with neurogenic disease, patients may require a combination of medication, nonpharmacologic aids, and lifestyle changes (clinicalkey.com)



Mild orthostatic hypotension often doesn't need treatment. Many people occasionally feel dizzy or lightheaded after standing, and it's usually not cause for concern. The treatment for more-severe cases of orthostatic hypotension depends on the cause.



# Hakikatnya. Aku masih belum buat medical check-up. Aku penat buat lab test-test ni segala. Doktor bukan bagi full explanation juga.

Hari-hari kena berlawan dengan kepeningan yang melampau ini. Duduk yang lama atau sekejap juga mengundang 'rasa' ini. Kepeningan yang di sertai pandangan hitam kelam. Ditemani bintang-bintang. Waduh. Nyaman.

Simptom ini juga datang bersama pakej yang lengkap. Pening. Pitam. Bintang-bintang. Sakit dada. Dan aku kena berpaut seketika pada benda statik yang berada di sekeliling. Aku sangat risau bila sebelah tu adalah mahluk lain jantina. (Sila nangis sambil memikirkan masa depan)

Andai saja engkau pernah merasainya. Pasti engkau dapat menikmati indahnya nikmat sihat itu.

  1. Salam kak, sy x la berapa pakar pasal p'kara ni. Tpi, mama papa selalu suruh mkn vitamin, minum banyak air masak (suam), minum jus mengkudu yg kna buat sendiri adlh lebih baik. Yg paling pentg, jangn sesekali b'diri secara m'gejut. Perlu ada timing.

    Dulu masa zaman remaja (ehem.. hihihi), sy pun slalu kna mcm ni. Alhamdulillah skrg dah kurng2x. :) stay healthy <3
